Unruly passenger on Newark-bound flight barrels into cockpit door, beats attendant

A passenger aboard a United Express Flight from Washington DC to Newark charged the cockpit door, beat on it, then attacked the flight attendant who tried to stop him, reports Gilma Avalos for NBC News.

Matthew Dingley, 28, who has had prior brushes with the law, was stopped by a number of passengers and crew.

Police responded at Newark. Dingley attacked the officers, injuring six, before being taken into custody. The officers will recover, though one broke several ribs.
