Nationally ranked Coastal Carolina’s football roster includes Staten Islander Patrick McSweeney

A September 11th family member is currently on a nationally-ranked football team.

Coastal Carolina University’s tight end, Patrick McSweeney, lost his father, FDNY FF Timothy McSweeney in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Timothy McSweeney also played football.

The team is currently ranked 9th nationally by the Associated Press Top 25 poll, reports Charlie De Biase, Jr. for the Staten Island Advance.

The Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers will play in the Sun Belt Conference championship game this Saturday.
