NYPD retiree Ruben Torres, sick from September 11-related illnesses, died Monday in Coral Springs

Ruben Torres, the retired New York City Police detective greeted as a hero when he recently moved to Coral Springs has died pf his World Trade Center-related illnesses.

A group of retired NYPD officers gathered outside his bedroom window to salute and wish him well the day before he died.

“We are grateful to all the first responders for coming out,” Detective Torres’ brother in law Mike Higgins told Leon Fooksman for Tap into Coral Springs. “It was done in a first-class way.”
