USS Arizona survivor rejoins shipmates, interred aboard ship

Raymond Haerry, who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor at the age of 19 and who died last year now lies with his fallen shipmates underwater aboard the downed USS Arizona, reports Jennifer McDermott in the Associated Press.

Haerry did not revisit Pearl Harbor in life, but recently told his family he’d like to be buried with the crew. When he died in September 2016, his family worked to bring about his burial on the sunken ship.

There are 5 USS Arizona survivors alive today. Forty-two survivors have been buried with the ship.
