Two officers who helped fight the Capitol mob died by suicide. Many more are hurting.

Approximately 850 police officers responded to the riots at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, where they faced hours of hand to hand combat and other dangers. Sixty-five officers were injured, some permanently, and one was killed. Two others have killed themselves since that day.

They’re all dealing with frightening memories.

Peter Hermann of the Washington Post considered their plight.
