Tunnel to Towers Foundation delivers cheer and a promise to Kentucky in wake of devastating tornadoes

About 50 active and retired FDNY firefighters have joined the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to help Mayfield, Kentucky recover from the recent tornadoes that devastated the community, reports Ann Marie Barron for the Staten Island Advance.

More than 15,000 toys were distributed just in time for Christmas, in addition to other supplies.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who was off-duty on 9/11, but who rushed to the Towers to help, ultimately running through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel in full gear. The foundation helps families of fallen cops, EMTs, firefighters, and military and assists after natural disasters.
