Stolen luggage set on fire destroys 9/11 memorial at Seattle airport, police say

Arson and theft charges have been filed against a man who last month stole luggage at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, set it on fire, and destroyed both the bags and the airport’s September 11th memorial.

Andre Lemon Dunson, a man with a long criminal history, stole three suitcases belonging to United States Airman Monty Ponder and set them aflame, reports Linzi Sheldon for KIRO7. Airman Ponder, who was returning to duty after a family funeral, lost everything in the bags.

A series of photographs that were part of the airport’s 9/11 memorial were destroyed as well.
