Steel beam from 9/11 to be installed at Princeton Fire and Rescue Squad headquarters

After fundraising and controversy, a nine-foot piece of steel from the World Trade Center will be displayed outside Princeton Fire and Rescue Squad headquarters, honoring the nine Princeton residents killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Plans to display the beam were stymied when an atheist group threatened to sue the town if the small cross cut into the side of the beam could be seen. An American flag will be used to cover the cross now, writes Anne Levin for towntopice.com.

An area has been decided upon for the steel and fundraising for a plaque and lighting continues.
