St. Joseph’s Chapel that served 9/11 first responders could shutter

Gateway Plaza Management tripled the rent of St. Joseph’s  Chapel in Battery Park City. The chapel served as a sanctuary for recovery workers in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, but cannot pay the crippling charges and may be closed write Susan Edelman and Aaron Short in the NY Post.

The chapel on South End Avenue may be forced to close by June. It is the only house of worship west of West Street and houses a beautiful September 11th memorial.

“Historian Todd Fine said it was “obscene St. Joseph’s could close while Battery Park turns into a government-subsidized “luxury playground.””
