Port Authority bomber is sentenced to life in prison

The terrorist who detonated a pipe bomb on December 11, 2017 in a rush hour tunnel under Times Square, has been sentenced to life in prison. His request for mercy was denied.

Akayed Ullah’s bomb injured a nearby person and seriously injured the bomber himself. Some people nearby suffered hearing loss, and many people were traumatized, reports Benjamin Weiser for the New York Times.

Ullah claims allegiance to ISIS.

Judge Richard J. Sullivan told the bomber, “this was a calculated, premeditated decision to kill as many people as you could, all in the name of an organization that is dedicated to spreading terror.”
