Ornament honoring fallen firefighters removed from Village of East Lake Fire Department flag pole

A fire helmet-shaped ornament has been removed from a flag pole of the Village of East Lake Fire Department in Michigan by order of the village president. The ornament, meant to honor the 343 firefighters killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, has been there for 15 years and complies with rules.

Manistee County fire department is hoping for an explanation; but none has come thus far, reports Shelli Adamczyk for WPBN/WGTU.
