On December 4, 2018, Detective Michael Lollo, 46, a 19-year NYPD veteran, will donate a kidney to a stranger he will never meet. All he will know is that she is a 59-year-old married to a Marine veteran.
He applied to donate a kidney to a colleague, but did not get a response. He then saw a billboard asking for a kidney, and applied to donate, but did not match.
He discussed his motivations and his lengthy testing process with Stephanie Pagones and Aaron Feis of the NY Post.
“To know that you can help someone, it seems such a small sacrifice on my part to help someone in such a tremendous way,” he said.
