Huntington Town Board dedicates Commack Street after local 9/11 hero Lt. Walter Malone

Huntington Town Board has renamed Commack’s Calvert Avenue “FDNY Lieutenant Walter F. Malone Way,” reports Long Island News.

Lt. Malone, of the elite unit Rescue 2 and E-214, died of World Trade Center-related respiratory illness in August of 2017. A 34-year veteran of the FDNY, he joined his captain, John Vigiano, Sr. on the pile. Captain Vigiano lost both his sons in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

He was also a Korean War veteran.
