NYPD Detective Joseph Paolillo, 55, died of a rare cancer linked to his time at the recovery efforts searching for the remains of his brother, FDNY Battalion Chief John Paolillo, 51, who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Detective Paolillo received an Inspector’s funeral this weekend, reported Clayton Guse and Rocco Parascandola for the New York Daily News.
