News media loses Guantanamo September 11 trial transparency challenge

Judge James L. Pohl, while agreeing to hear pretrial testimony from 83-year-old Lee Hanson, who lost his son, daughter-in-law and toddler granddaughter aboard United Flight 175 in the terrorist attacks of 9/11, has rejected a bid that would allow members of the media to hear the testimony, reports Carol Rosenberg in the Miami Herald.

The five co-defendants  will be permitted to watch the testimony in a closed court.

Pohl’s ruling can be read here.
