Long Beach fixes benches – many a tribute to 9/11 victims

Many of the 920 benches along the Long Beach boardwalk have been repaired, including a number of memorial benches dedicated to people killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

About 300 of the benches have been repaired or are scheduled for repair. More than 100 of the benches have 9/11 dedications, reports John Asbury for Newsday.

Michele Sherry Mosca was happy to see the bench of her brother, John Sherry, fixed. “I know it was just hard to see them broken,” Sherry Mosca said. “It was like a broken heart once more.”
