Kevin Shea, 9/11 hero, gave the gift of life to a total stranger

FDNY Firefighter Kevin Shea nearly died during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, surviving the collapse of the South Tower with a broken neck and other injuries. The other members of his company, Engine 40/Ladder 35, were killed.

Shea donated a kidney to a stranger this Christmas season, writes Dean Balsamini in the New York Post. Lois Knudson, a former New Yorker who is now a teacher in California, has a new lease on life thanks to Shea. She told reporters, “I will never need another Christmas gift.”
