Just two months after 9/11, a New York neighborhood hit by another tragedy

A close-knit neighborhood that had just held its twelfth 9/11 funeral faced even more tragedy on November 12, 2001 when American Airlines Flight 587 crashed into three of its houses, killing 5 people on the ground and 260 on the plane.

Rockaway Beach in Queens lost 70 residents in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and was further devastated by the crash, reports Deb Kiner for Penn Live.com.

The crash was an accident.
