Innovative addiction help center Carl’s House to open

Carl’s House, an addiction help center being built by the Carl V. Bini Memorial Fund will open in May, 2016, writes Ryan Lavis in the Staten Island Advance.

Firefighter Carl Bini of Rescue 5 was killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The foundation in his name helps Staten Island residents in many ways.

Carl’s House is being built on Veterans Road West on the South Shore of Staten Island. The center will offer free resources for addicts and their families, including drug and alcohol awareness and prevention workshops, job training, interventions and training sessions on the administration of Naloxone, a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of some overdoses. There is a 24-hour hotline already running at 718-412-1851.
