‘In his footsteps’: Dutchess County resident Aric Tegtmeier, whose father died on 9/11, joins New York Fire Department

Aric Tegtmeier, who was 6 years old on the day terrorists killed his father, FDNY Firefighter Paul Tegtmeier, has followed his father onto the FDNY, reports Diane Pineiro-Zucker, in the Daily Freeman. Aric Tegtmeier, 21, is now an EMT with Station 27. The elder Tegtmeier served with Ladder Company 46, but on September 11th, had rotated to Engine 4.

“‘It’s kinda hard not to want to follow in his footsteps,’ the younger Tegtmeier said of his father.”
