How to hold a virtual memorial service

Steven Birenbaum expected the Zoom memorial service for his father to be distressing and was pleasantly surprised to find it a moving experience. He even discovered some advantages to virtual events — more people can speak than at a conventional service, and the event can be recorded.

Many funeral homes are offering livestreamed services. If yours does not, or if you’d like to try on your own, Mr. Birenbaum offered suggestions in the New York Times to make a virtual memorial service work smoothly.
