‘Here to keep her memory alive’ – volunteers clean garden in memory of Jessica Sachs

A group of volunteers gathered last weekend to clean the Billerica, Massachusetts memorial garden that honors Jessica Sachs, weeding and mulching and decorating the memorial plaque with American flags. One donated a new bench and others gave funds for flowers.

Most of them did not know Jessica or her family. The family has moved away from the area.

Jessica Sachs was 22 and on her first business trip for her dream job at Pricewaterhouse Coopers when her plane, American Airlines Flight 11, was hijacked by terrorists who flew it into Tower 1 of the World Trade Center.

Once the volunteers finished their work, they joined other community members for a ceremony rededicating the garden to Jessica Sachs.

“We just don’t want it to be forgotten, so we’re here to keep her memory alive,” Donald MacDonald, one of the volunteers, told reporter Chris Lisinski of the Lowell Sun.
