Green Bay backtracks on removal of controversial September 11 monument

One month after Green Bay’s City Council unanimously voted to scrap the weatherbeaten and inaccurate 9/11 memorial, public outrage has led to the halting of the plan, reports Jonathan Anderson of USA Today. Claims have now arisen that the memorial contains religious artifacts, a piece of stone from the Pentagon and possibly, blood of victims of the attacks.

Part of the memorial, a steel beam from the World Trade Center, has already been removed.

City Council has now voted to continue to discuss the fate of the memorial.
