Dedication ceremonies for Towers of Freedom 9/11 Military Monument in Massapequa

The Massapequa Post reports that the Towers of Freedom 9/11 Military Monument held a dedication ceremony on April 1, 2017 at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa Park.

Memorial bricks were presented to two World Trade Center recovery workers, NYPD Sergeant Peter Meehan and NYC Corrections Officer Michael Banahan. A brick was also presented to the family of the beloved NYPD Detective Steven McDonald, who died last year.

A modified bicycle was given to the disabled son of recently retired FDNY Firefighter Ken Haskell, who lost two firefighter brothers to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and an electric wheelchair was presented to St. Rose of Lima’s outreach program.

The Towers of Freedom also joined with NYPD Arms Wide Open, the Detective Brian Moore Memorial Fund, the NYS FOP Surgeons Lodge SA03, Raymond Moore, Ainsley’s Angels and Castaways Grill to donate two running wheelchairs to the sons of retired NYPD Officer Kevin Carroll, both of whom suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Lunch at Castaways Grill followed the dedication.
