De Blasio blames his staff for missing 9/11 memorial event

A spokesman for Mayor de Blasio says that the Mayor’s ignoring the opening of the new memorial for those who have died of World Trade Center-related illness is due to staff error, report Julia Marsh and Nolan Hicks for the New York Post.

De Blasio was seen at the gym and at a bakery instead of honoring those recovery workers who died due to their tireless labor after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Governor Cuomo also did not attend, though he sent a representative.

The 9/11 Memorial Museum confirmed that both politicians were invited to the ceremony.
