Staten Island street renamed to honor 9/11 hero William Allee

The corner of Bascom Place and Collfield Avenue in Staten Island now bears the name of William Allee, former chief of detectives for the NYPD. Allee died of World Trade Center-related leukemia in May 2018.

Allee served the NYPD for 40 years, reports CBS New York.

“Starting today, any time someone passes this street corner and reads Chief Allee’s name it will be another opportunity for us to tell his story, and the stories of all our heroes who gave their lives and service to others,” NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill told attendees at the ceremony.
