City bill would require update for cops’ bulletproof vests

If it passes, a new City Council bill would require New York City to outfit cops with up-to-date bulletproof vests, writes Michael Gartland in the December 7, 2015 NY Post

Currently many bulletproof vests issued to the NYPD are out of date. The fibers in the vests deteriorate over time.

The new bill would ensure that all NYPD officers have vests with valid warranties, and that no vest has been in use for more than five years or has been hit by a bullet.
