Children of late trooper follow in father’s footsteps

Two of the newest New York State Police officers have special reason to be proud. Taylor Salaway, 22, and her brother Carson, 24, know that their father, Sergeant Charles Salaway, would be smiling to see them graduate.

Charles Salaway died from site-related cancer last year, reports Melissa Steininger for Spectrum News, Albany/Capital Region.

“He was my hero for as long as I can remember and he always will be. He did this job for 27 years and would’ve kept doing it if he could have,” Carson said.
