Buchanan Fallen Heroes Tree honors fallen first responders from across America

Bill Price of Buchanan, Virginia, has put up a red, white, and blue “Fallen Heroes Tree” for the past four years to honor those police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty nationwide.

This year, 142 blue stars represent police officers; 72 red ones honor firefighters; and 9 blue stars honor police dogs killed. Among those honored are firefighters and cops killed by September 11th-related cancers, reports Aaron Thompson of WFXR.

The tree will be lit for the entire month of December. It will, sadly, return next year to honor new people.
