Bill would give EMTs killed in line of duty same benefits as cops, firefighters

State lawmakers are introducing legislation to give families of emergency medical personnel who are killed in the line of duty the same death benefits as the families of police officers and firefighters, report Kirstan Conley and Shawn Cohen in the NY Post.

Former police officer Senator Marty Golden and Assemblyman Peter Abbate hope to ensure that paramedics and EMTs killed in the line of duty are eligible for posthumous promotions.
