Washington D.C. has had great success using therapy dogs with Capitol Police officers after last year’s January 6th insurrection. So the D.C. fire department and D.C. Firefighters Association, International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 36 have gotten two therapy dogs, Avery, a chocolate Lab, and Levi, a German shepherd, to help their members, reports Jasmine Hilton for the Washington Post.
“That dog changed everything from my standpoint watching. That dog was simply amazing.” Sgt. Scott Creelman who works on the peer-support team for the D.C. Fire and EMS Department.
