Staten Island loses another NYPD hero, retired Detective Thomas Santoro, to 9/11-related illness

Retired NYPD counterterrorism detective and beloved father of two Thomas Santoro worked during the recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. That service has now cost him his life, as he died on July 21, 2019 of site-related cancer at the age of 53, reports Irene Spezzamonte for the Staten Island Advance.
