The NYPD and City Council are at odds over a new bill.
Fifteen members of NYC’s City Council have sponsored a bill that would force the NYPD to make public many details about surveillance technology they use, reports Erin Durkingraham Rayman in the New York Daily News.
Officials from the NYPD say the bill would give terrorists and criminals information they could use to thwart the NYPD.
‘“In effect, it would create a one-stop-shopping guide for understanding these tools, and how to thwart them, for criminal elements and terrorists across the nation and the world,”’ said NYPD deputy commissioner for counterterrorism, John Miller.
