Denver architect to design 9/11 visitor center at the Pentagon

Fentress Architects of Denver has been chosen to design the new 9/11 Pentagon Memorial Visitor Education Center at the Pentagon Memorial, writes Michael Neibauer in the Washington Business Journal.

The site selected for the visitor center is under the flight path of Flight 77 and adjacent to the Pentagon’s Memorial to the 184 people killed in the terrorist attacks and to the 9/11 Pentagon Group Burial Marker in Arlington National Cemetery.

The new education center will be more than 100,000 square feet in size. It will contain an auditorium, exhibitions, classrooms, a sky terrace,  a room for quiet reflection, and an office.

Projections from the Pentagon Memorial Fund estimate the annual visitor number to be 3.5 million.
