9/11 survivor, Lieutenant Colonel Dan Adelstein (ret.), remembers Pentagon attack

Retired U.S. Army Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel Dan Adelstein, a 1977 West Point graduate, did not see combat in his first 20 years of service. He was in the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, 2001, however.

“At the moment of the attack, I was in a [Pentagon] conference room with some representatives from other parts of the army staff,” he told Michael Gordon of DVM.com. “So my office where I normally work was very heavily damaged, but the conference room that I was in at that point was not affected.

Lieutenant Colonel Adelstein now works in Washington, D.C. as a political military consultant.
