USS Arlington reports death of Staff Sergeant Louis F. Cardin, USMC

ARLINGTON Family and Friends, It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that we lost one of our Marine team members a few days ago. Staff Sergeant Louis F. Cardin of Temecula, California was tragically killed on March 19. Staff Sergeant Cardin was part of a U.S. Marine Corps detachment located near Makhmur, Iraq. The three injured Marines were evacuated to Landsthul, Germany for treatment, but I don’t have an update on their condition at this time. All family members have been notified.

The Marines that have been detached to support Operation Inherent Resolve are from Echo Battery and until recently were part of the contingent of the 26 MEU that is embarked aboard ARLINGTON. We are holding a memorial service on the 24th of March to honor the memory of SSGT Cardin. Please continue to keep his family and the families of the injured Marines in your thoughts and prayers. V/R Captain Bailey
