World Trade Center beam finds permanent home at Rutgers Business School to honor Jayceryll Malabuyoc de Chavez

The Colonia Senior Citizens Club obtained a piece of World Trade Center steel a decade ago. After a years-long search for an appropriate home for the beam, they donated it to Rutgers University Business School.

They joined with the family of Jayceryll Malabuyoc de Chavez, who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack, and placed the roughly 3-foot beam in the foyer of the Business School Building alongside a plaque and a photograph honoring de Chavez, an alumnus of the school.

Rutgers Business School was considered an especially appropriate home for this tribute as so many of those killed in the attacks worked in the business world, reports Catherine Nguyen for the Bridgewater Courier News.
