Vets relieved after 9/11 memorial feared missing from Afghanistan is located in NY

The World Trade Center steel at Afghanistan’s Bagram Airfield has been found safe at Fort Drum in New York.

The 900-pound piece of steel was donated by the people of Breezy Point Queens, and was feared to be lost during the military evacuation from the area, reports Kerry J. Byrne for the NY Post.

The Army’s 10th Mountain Division, which once ran Bagram Air Base, had shipped the beam back to New York in 2015. Why no one realized this is unknown.
