“USS Arlington” display to be part of revamped Arlington government HQ

Arlington, Virginia’s Ellen M. Bozman Government Center is undergoing renovations. Its new lobby will highlight the town’s connection to the United States Navy ship that bears its name, reports Scott McCaffrey for the Sun Gazette.

USS Arlington is the ship that honors the 184 people killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon and aboard American Airlines Flight 77, the plane that struck the Pentagon. The USS Arlington Community Alliance, a group that began with the 2012 commissioning of the ship, is responsible for the exhibit.

The USS Arlington Community Alliance, the Arlington Police Beneficiary Association, and the Arlington Historical Society are collaborating to build a model of the USS Arlington as part of the display.

The display is expected to be installed early next year.
