US soldier hoped to team up with ISIS to attack 9/11 Memorial: feds

A 20-year-old US Army soldier has been arrested after attempting to join ISIS and attack the 9/11 Memorial in New York City, reports Kate Sheehy for the NY Post.

Pfc. Cole James Bridges aka Cole Gonzales, of Stow, Ohio, had a number of discussions plotting attacks on US soldiers and places in the US. He offered diagrams and plots and made a video, assumed that his contact was an ISIS member. The contact was really an undercover FBI informant.

Bridges has been in the Third Infantry Division out of Fort Stewart since 2019.

He faces charges including providing material support to a foreign terror organization and the attempted murder of US servicemen.
