U.S. Coast Guard names two cutters after 9/11 heroes Vincent Danz and Jeffrey Palazzo

The U.S. Coast Guard will name two new Fast Response Cutters in honor of two Coast Guard reservists who were killed while responding to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Coast Guard Machinery Technician 1st Class Jeffrey Palazzo was also a firefighter with FDNY Rescue 5; while Port Security Specialist 2nd Class Vincent Danz was an NYPD ESU officer.

The new cutters should be operational in 2023, reports the Maritime Executive.
