Town breaks ground on 9/11 memorial in Point Lookout

On February 24, 2017, ground was broken for a new memorial to those killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 at Point Lookout reported Bridget Downes in the Long Island Herald. Point Lookout has one of the largest September 11th remembrance ceremonies in the area, largely due to its view of the site of the World Trade Center.

Families of some of those killed in the attacks and families of some of the many who have died of 9/11-related illnesses were on hand to participate in the ceremony.

The new memorial is scheduled to be completed by August 15, 2017.
