In light of November’s terrorist attack near London Bridge by a convicted terrorist who was attending a prisoner rehabilitation program, the UK is making changes in the way they handle terrorism. One of the proposals is to give convicted terrorists lie detector tests before release to prove they are not planning more attacks.
Other proposals include increased police funding for counter-terrorism; more victim support; and ensuring that terrorists serve longer portions of their sentences before facing a Parole Board, and increases in the minimum amounts of time behind bars, reports Sean Morrison for the UK’s Evening Standard.
