For more than ten years, best friends FDNY Firefighters Danny Foley and Chris Smith of Rescue 3 took an annual hunting trip with friends in Newark, Ohio, making many friends among the locals, particularly among Ohio firefighters, reports Abbey Roy for the Newark Advocate.
Danny’s brother Tommy Foley was one of the 343 FDNY members killed during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Danny Foley died in February 2020 of World Trade Center-related pancreatic cancer.
A few days ago, Chris Smith returned to the Ohio pub where he and Danny made so many friends. He didn’t know that a group of FDNY friends would be there waiting for him to make the return without Danny a little easier.
