Streets named for Westbury firefighters who responded to 9/11

The Town of Hempstead has dedicated two streets to Westbury firefighters who died of World Trade Center illnesses after assisting with the recovery efforts after the terrorist attacks reported David Olson in Newsday.

Richard Dellacona died in 2012 of the rare cancer leiomyosarcoma. He was 60. Robert Langer, 62, died of pancreatic cancer.

Sadly, Langer’s widow will have to leave the street that now bears her husband’s name. Due to financial trouble from his illness — his drugs alone cost $18,000 a month —  she must leave the home they shared.
