Secretary of Defense visits Pentagon Memorial

The new Secretary of Defense James Mattis visited the Pentagon Memorial on January 23, 2017, to pay his respects to the 184 people who were murdered there during the 9/11 terrorist attacks reported Tara Copp in Stars and Stripes.

In his first address to the Pentagon, Secretary Mattis appealed for unity and spoke of the ways in which military members and Defense Department personnel have served as a beacon to the nation.
