Ribbon-cutting takes place for Stephy’s Place, a support center for grief and loss

Stephy’s Place, a new center offering free support groups for those mourning a loss, opened in Red Bank on March 9, 2016 reports Krista Newbert in the Red Bank Patch.

Stephy’s Place was named for Stephanie Hardman Kaminoff, a Red Bank woman who died of cancer in 2014 leaving three children. The center was started by Sheila Martello, whose husband James was killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The non-profit organization offers ten free support groups, all of which are facilitated by an experienced moderator. Groups are specialized by types of loss — loss of a spouse, a child, a parent. There are miscarriage groups, suicide groups, groups for loss from addiction, and a divorce support group. Groups for caregivers for the terminally ill and monthly meditation groups also meet at Stephy’s Place.

Stephy’s Place is located at 210 West Front Street in Red Bank in the Swede Chevalier building.
