Retired NYPD Deputy Chief Vincent DeMarino, who also served as NYC Transit security chief, dies from 9/11-related cancer

Retired NYPD Deputy Chief Vincent DeMarino has died of World Trade Center-related cancer at the age of 61.

DeMarino began his NYPD career in 1981, and retired in 2008. He was assigned to the NYPD Bronx Narcotics Unit at the time of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

He is survived by his wife and four children, three of whom followed his footsteps and joined the NYPD, report Ellen Moynihan and Thomas Tracy for the New York Daily News.
