Resiliency and patriotism in Middletown: 9/11 Survivor Tree is planted in Memorial Gardens

A seedling from the World Trade Center’s Survivor Tree, the pear tree that survived the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center, has been planted at the Middletown, NJ WTC Memorial Gardens.

Middletown NJ lost more people than any town except New York City in the 9/11 attacks.

Town residents Janice and Ken Tietjen, parents of PAPD Police Officer Kenneth Tietjen, who was killed responding to the attacks, attended the ceremony.
