Ryan Sit writes in the February 9, 2016 edition of the NY Daily News about some September 11th families’ reactions to the Super Bowl ad for Colonial Williamsburg. The commercial showed images of the collapsing the World Trade Center. The ad was a regional spot that aired only in the New York/Washington, D.C/Pennsylvania area — ironically, the areas most affected by the attacks.
Kevin Crossett, a spokesman for Colonial Williamsburg, dismissed complaints with the statement, “We understand and respect that some of the images depicted in the ad may be jarring to some, but the outpouring of support on social media sends a powerful message that the past must be remembered if we are to succeed as a Nation”.
